Our Story
Founder
Our story begins with founder Ritesh Mohan, who envisioned a successful restaurant that blended royal Indian cuisine, dating back 300 to 400 years, with the finest local ingredients.
Taj Cafe & BBQ. Dothan, AL. 2010.
Ritesh's journey began in 2001 when he moved to the United States from India. In 2010, he launched his first business, Taj Café & BBQ, becoming the first to introduce Indian cuisine to Dothan, AL. Recognizing the challenges of opening an Indian restaurant in Alabama, Ritesh incorporated BBQ to help customers feel more at home.
El Sabor de Taj. Enterprise, AL. 2012 - 2020
After a warm reception from the community, Ritesh opened his second restaurant in Enterprise, focusing exclusively on Indian cuisine. While successful, he saw an opportunity for growth and added Mexican dishes to the menu, rebranding the restaurant as El Sabor de Taj. Currently we are working to reopen the restaurant with a new and modern concept
Taj Internation. Dothan, AL. 2013 -2022
Established in 2012, Taj Indian and Greek Restaurant in Dothan, AL, has been a local staple for Indian cuisine. As the only Indian restaurant in Dothan, we are committed to serving fresh, authentic, and healthy Indian and Greek dishes.
El Sabor. Gurugram, India. 2019 - 2020
In 2019, Ritesh, passionate about Mexican cuisine, opened an El Sabor restaurant in Gurugram, India. Introducing Spanish cuisine to India, the restaurant has been a great success. Featuring a full bar and modern décor.
Taj Restaurant & bar, Dothan, AL. Since 2022
Our new location, Taj Restaurant & Bar, was established in 2022 in Dothan, AL, offering Indian, Greek, Mexican, and Peruvian cuisine. We remain the only Indian restaurant in Dothan, dedicated to serving fresh, authentic, and healthy dishes. We take pride in our cuisine and value the lasting relationships we've built by sharing our culture with the Wiregrass community.
